The U.S.-Mexico Border Industry Mapping Initiative is a joint project of the North American Research Partnership and the Mexico Institute at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.
This project is designed to support the economic development work of both local communities and the federal governments in the U.S.-Mexico border region. We have designed a methodology to identify key industries in each sub-region that meet three criteria: highly concentrated, binational and dynamic.
In recognition of the unique binational nature of the border-
region economies, we have adapted our process to use comparable data available on both sides of the border, and we employ a consistent approach to the length on the U.S.-Mexico border, allowing a comparative view of the unique strengths of each sub-region.
For analysis and details regarding our methodology, please see our report, Competitive Border Communities: Mapping and Developing U.S.-Mexico Transborder Industries.
We appreciate your patience as we continue building our U.S.- Mexico Border Industry Map.
